It’s all about the Taste!

So I wanted to blog on this previously, but I’m just now getting around to it. That said, some time last week after a long evening out Laura and I decided we just didn’t want to make dinner. Chipotle was on the menu, but the kids don’t like it, so we decided on Taco Tico. It had been awhile and I felt the need to decrease my life by a couple of years. Aparenlty they have this special, and when ordering it caused some confusion:

Me: I’ll have a six pack of tacos and a combo burrito.

Tico Lady: It’s all about the Taste would you like buy one get one free on the combo burrito?

Me: Sure. Thanks.

Tico Lady: Do you want anything to drink?

Me: No thanks.

Tico Lady: Okay I’ve got a six pack of tacos and a combo burrito. It’s all about the Taste would you like to get a combo burrito free?

Me: Yes.

Tico Lady: It’s all about the Taste. You have to say it.

Me: (Like Jerry MacGuire) It’s all about the Taste!
At that point she gave me a total and I proceeded to the window, where I saw a sticker for the advertised special.

So, if you’re going to Taco Tico, make sure you know “it’s all about the taste” (and make sure your wife isn’t laughing uncontrollably at you.)

Well – Happy Talk Like a Pirate Day Ladies an’ Gentleman. I really be havin’ nothin’ t’ add t’ me swabbieal website other than we had a great time this last four days while I be off work, an’ celebrated Laura`s an’ Matt`s birthday. As a surprise, I tookst off Monday t’ treat Laura into some bunkin’ in time fer th’ lass’ birthday. Other than that, work on th’ new design be still under way (as ‘t always be eh?) Th’ artwork be takin’ a lot more time on accoun’ o’ I think I be too picky, or I can ideeualize what I want t’ do but then fail on accoun’ o’ I dasn’t konw quite how t’ make ‘t happen in Photoshop.
This tides I start school again. I be re-takin’ C++. Unfortunately, thar`s a new edition o’ th’ text, so on top o’ takin’ th’ course again, I be havin’ t’ get a new book. In any event, I be more excited than ereto conquer me previous failin’ attempts at C++ so I can move on t’ Java, an’ eventually python an’ rails etc. `Tis probably a bit aftwards, but I`d really like t’ get that piece o’ paper that be takin’ me about 10 voyages t’ get.
I suppose I had more than I thought t’ write about. `Till next time!

home-roasting coffee is always good

Last night I polished off my bag of Papua New Guinea Kimel Estate coffee. I decided to do a medium light roast. While I was previously roasting on my back deck in heat of summer I noticed there was a significant increase of roasting time in my kitchen this time of year. Speaking of which – if you wife doesn’t really like the smell of coffee it’s probably not a good idea to roast in the kitchen :)

It wasn’t that bad. I tried my roast this morning and forgot how awesome my home roasts are. Compared to Archer Farms (Target) whole bean coffee, my roast was obviously better. This morning when I got to work I had already polished off my mug, so I grabbed some of our Folgers. At first I didn’t even know I was drinking coffee! Okay, it wasn’t that bad, but I just have a new appreciation for my own roasted coffee today.

While looking for sources of additional green beans I some how ran across a “What type of coffee are you?” web page:
***You are a Black Coffee***
At your best, you are: low maintenance, friendly, and adaptable
At your worst, you are: cheap and angsty
You drink coffee when: you can get your hands on it
Your caffeine addiction level: high
What Kind of Coffee Are You?

This seems to be an improvement over my 11% How Web 2.0-aware Are You? score.

I guess to sum up my entry today, if you’ve never tried home roasting – you’re missng out!

that old man

an old manEvery day on my way to and from work, I pass this strange looking lot, where for the past week, has had this old man reading a book. I drove by at 8:00 am, and he’s reading a book. At 11:30 today, he’s reading the same book. I’m just wondering what book it is, and whether or not this is all this guy is going to do for the next two weeks.
